Abstract

The Empire Abo field is situated in north-central Eddy County, New Mexico, and constitutes the edge of the Northwest Shelf province of the Delaware basin. The field occupies parts of 25 sections in T. 17 and 18 S., R. 27, 28, and 29 E.

The object of this study is to delineate the transition zone of lower Leonard (Permian) basinal deposition and shelf facies with a detailed study of fore-reef, reef, and back-reef facies with emphasis on sedimentational and stratigraphic relationships.
