Abstract
It was in the time long ago. The People of the Sun, never having known famine or plague, lived happily and peacefully in their thick-walled towns. All about them stretched away the desert. Far to the west was the great river that surged between mighty walls of rock bright with many colors. Somewhere beyond the river was a big water, but no one had ever travelled so far. To the north, at the distance of many days' walking, there were sky-piercing mountains whose summits glittered with snow that never melted. In the other directions, sun-cursed sands that shifted eternally among pitted rock formations, reached to the horizon and beyond it to burning regions of thirst.
