Abstract
The use of intrinsic thermocouples to measure rapid temperature variations of electrically conductive materials has become increasingly popular because of their unique characteristics: rapid response, versatility, reliability, relative simplicity and low cost. However, in some of the applications, the variations are so rapid that the heat transfer process between the substrate and the thermocouple wire induces large errors in the temperature measurements. In these situations, proper interpretation of the experimental data required an accurate description of the response characteristics of the thermocouple.
