Abstract
This is a short explanation of the US-European view of the field of social medicine prepared by Johann van Reenen, Fall 2007 for the Latin American Knowledge Harvester (LAKH) project. It should be read in conjunction with the definition of Latin American Social Medicine provided by Celia Iriart (see: Medicina Social Latinoamericana, MSLA)
