Abstract
As of 2022, one in three New Mexico counties were "OB deserts," places where pregnancy and childbirth care is limited. Distance, hospital closures, and staff shortages make care especially hard to reach for rural, low-income, and Indigenous communities. To help, the University of New Mexico offers a minor and certificate in maternal and child health leadership.
