Abstract

In anticipation, a lively crowd had begun to gather around the corral where the bullfights would soon begin. Solemn Nass and the procession were over now. They were laughing and gossiping -ranchers and settlers, prospectors and soldiers, dozens of them, relatives and compadres -dressed in their gaudy best and come from leagues around at Father Joseph Garrucho's invitation to join in the patronal feast. In honor of the day he had suspended work on the new church, and Don Joaquin dle Casares, master builder from Arizpe, was enjoying himself with the others.
