Abstract

This report compiles empirical residential sales price data from New Mexico land title companies and regional boards of realtors to identify regional real estate valuation trends between September 1984 and August 1985. Prepared by the Bureau of Business and Economic Research at the University of New Mexico, the study reveals that home purchase values in multiple regional markets significantly outpaced baseline federal averages. These data establish an aggregate residential baseline to support formal requests to the Internal Revenue Service to raise the maximum purchase price ceilings allowed for first-time home buyers across the state.
