Abstract

This report evaluates the economic and financial impact of proposed air quality control regulations on seven New Mexico potash producers. Prepared by the Bureau of Business and Economic Research at the University of New Mexico, the study analyzes the global and domestic potash markets alongside company-specific financial data, concluding that the compliance costs—ranging from $0.09 to $0.74 per capacity ton—will not cause any local producer to reduce or suspend operations due to strong corporate backings and a favorable world price outlook.
