Abstract
This household survey analyzes the local purchasing habits of Lovington, New Mexico residents to identify where and why they spend retail dollars outside the municipality. The empirical findings show that expanding local merchandise selection, product availability, and operating hours could capture substantial revenue leaking to larger adjacent commercial hubs like Hobbs and Lubbock.
