Abstract

The report combines demographic and economic forecasting methods. Population projections were based primarily on county projections produced through BBER's Demographic Analysis and Projections Service (DAPRO), with migration assumptions serving as the principal variable differentiating low-, medium-, and high-growth scenarios. Average household size projections were derived from U.S. Census household forecasts and adjusted to reflect changing demographic conditions in New Mexico, including declining fertility, delayed marriage, changing household composition, and the aging population.
