Abstract

The report examines the county’s demographic trends, labor force, income structure, agriculture, business activity, public services, education, health care, local government finance, and long-term development prospects. Harding County is characterized as a sparsely populated high-plains ranching region whose economy is overwhelmingly dependent on cattle production and the condition of its short-grass rangelands. The study emphasizes that agriculture, particularly livestock ranching, dominates local economic activity, accounting for approximately two-thirds of personal income and a large share of employment.
