Abstract
The Rio Puerco watershed in northwestern New Mexico is responsible for large quantities of sediment entering the Rio Grande and Elephant Butte Reservoir. The Rio Puerco has a large quantity of sediment movement and channelization as a result of the general erodibility of geologic units, the precipitation patterns, and high topographic relief.
