Abstract
Two empirical generalizations which have emerged regarding the effects of delayed reinforcement on discrimination learning in children are: (1) the greater the difficulty of the task, the more likely will delayed reward have adverse effects upon learning; (2) procedures which lead the S to attend carefully to the task are more likely to eliminate the detrimental effects of delayed reward (Terrell, 1965).
