Abstract
Søren Kierkegaard in his journals and papers, as well as in his published writings, emphasized the category of the individual so strongly that it has been assumed by some readers that he advocated a hermit-like existence which precludes relationships with other individuals. Kierkegaard, himself', was cognizant of this interpretation of his writings in 1848 when he wrote in his journal: “I am accused of leading young men to rest satisfied in their own subjectivity.”
