Felipita discusses life in Arroyo Hondo, how they built the houses, guacales [boxes to store fruit], jaras [cages]. Native American houses and rancherías [encampments close to rivers]. The Indians were forced to move from Arroyo Hondo to Taos by the Americans. When Americans entered in this area they tore down the templo in Taos. Some Indians stayed in Arroyo Hondo and mixed with the Hispanic people [Native American and Hispanic ancestry], social norms. Había molinos in Arroyo Hondo. Cautivos, carrying away of people. People lived from farming crops and raising farm animals.
