Abstract
The major purposes for this study were four: To ascertain by interview the language currently spoken in home and community of a given public school, and to determine the extent of use of both Spanish and English.
To identify the attitudes and wishes of parents about the use of Spanish in the public school, and about the formal teaching of Spanish.
To secure information regarding parents’ wishes for the utilization of Spanish cultural materials in the school curriculum.
To secure opinions of parents, in a stable community and across diverse vocational levels and periods of local residence, about school program content and characteristics.
