Abstract

In 1969 the faculty of the University of New Mexico (UNM) app oved a proposal for a new degree program submitted by the Committee on the Enhancement of the Educational Process (CEEP). The new degree, entitled t11e Bachelor of University Studies (BUS), would be a non-traditional degree with few of the structure that characterized existing degree programs at UNM. The BUS would give students the option of developing unique, interdepartmental, and inter­college degree programs that could not be formulated in any other degree-granting colleges of the University.
