Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the combined effectiveness or the Bender Gestalt Test with the Stanford Early School Achievement Test, level I (SESAT I), for predicting first grade reading achievement. This study also explored the relationship between beginning school achievement, as assessed by the SESAT I, and visual-motor perception, as assessed by the Bender Gestalt Test. The variables age, sex, school attended, and preschool experiences were examined relative to their effects on the SESAT I and Bender Gestalt performance.
