Abstract
Theorists have indicated that role expectations have unexplored consequences in regard to teach education. Experience and research have indicated that the public school teacher who supervises the student teaching experience may have more influence on the teaching methods of prospective teachers than do the university teacher educators. Common knowledge contends that public school teachers and teacher educators do not advocate the same teaching methods. Recent discussion about the roles of teachers and coaches indicates that differences might exist in the homogeneity of the role expectations of male and female physical education teachers. This study was undertaken to ascertain whether freshmen students, senior students, teacher educators, public school teachers, male, and female physical educators have significant differences of opinions in regard to the role of the physical education teacher.
