Abstract

Through field research, I have gathered stray animal plot points throughout the entire city over the summer of 2017. This observational field research has collected the GPS locations of these animals, both canines and felines, so that they could be analyzed through GIS applications. Not only has this research compared the canine and feline points recorded, but also compares these points to human environmental variables surrounding them to see how our own landscape has effected each species independently. Finally, an analysis of how these variables compare has been statistically analyzed and ranked using ESRI’s ArcMap analytical tools. The qualitative and quantitative analyses provided by GIS software can provide insight into how human and stray animal interactions are in many ways symbiotic.
