The wooden statues are filled with emotion and may reflect the suffering Aleijadinho himself may have been undergoing during the last years of his life.81) A cena da Coroação e Flagelamento mostra Cristo aclamado como rei, ridicularizado e atormentado pelos soldados romanos. As estátuas de madeira são cheias de emoção e refletem o sofrimento que o próprio Aleijadinho deve ter vivido durante os últimos anos de vida.
