11. O derrubador (The Wood Cutter), 1879. Ahneida Jr. also painted Brazilian nativist subjects. Here his Realist style is applied to a Brazilian nativist subject in this painting: the rural people, known as caiPiras in the State of São Paulo. The Modrnist painters retumed to these nativist subjects in the 1920s.
