Description

Igapó forest vegetation along one of the many small river tributaries in the Amazon region. Most of the Amazon Basin is covered by dense equatorial rain forest though the northwest bank includes savana areas. Much of the forest along the rivers is flooded during the whole year while other forest areas remain covered only during the rainy seasons when the river swells and overflows, usually from January through June.
