Description

A lone cactus overlooks the enormous blue manmade lake created by the Sobradinho power plant and damo Water resource experts have found large underground water reserves in the sertão. It is only a question of adequate technology and government programs willing to address the problems of the landless rural worker and small farmers to improve the socioeconomic conditions of Brazil's poorest citizens. Though most of the sertão cannot be irrigated, large improvements could be made in several of the more fertile areas.
