A liberdade religiosa, existente desde 1824, possibilitou a proliferação de numerosas denominações Protestantes, sendo as maiores delas a Luterana, a Batista e a Presbiteriana. Mais recentemente, numerosas igrejas evangélicas têm conseguido um grande número de adeptos.
