Abstract

The Bureau of Business and Economic Research (BBER) at the University of New Mexico conducted a survey of apartment properties in communities across the state for the New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority (MFA). The survey was undertaken in May 2011, with non-response follow-up extending into mid-July. Vacancy and rent data for mid-May, along with the year the structure was built, were requested for apartment complexes with five or more units. The survey focused on areas in New Mexico that were outside of Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, and Santa Fe; those markets are covered extensively by CB Richard Ellis surveys. The questionnaire for this survey was the same as the one that was used for the two prior surveys. The goal was to provide MFA with current market information for the organization's databases. This was the third survey in as many years, part of a continuing effort by BBER on behalf of the MFA. Illustrated with tables and charts. Sample survey materials included in an appendix.
