Abstract
An analysis of economic conditions in San Miguel County, New Mexico. Economic growth in San Miguel County has lagged behind the average rate for New Mexico, as seen in the county's slow population growth, below average labor force participation rates, low income levels, and high rate of poverty. Examining the area's pull factors and then using a location quotient analysis of local industries, the author assesses the county's economic competitiveness and gives recommendations for future economic growth. Includes tables and charts.
